The list of players withdrawing from the fourth event of the 2025 calendar, i.e., the Farmers Insurance Open, is showing no sign of stopping. There have been 10 withdrawals till now. Even more shocking, Ryan Moore, who came in as a replacement for Will Zalatoris, has also withdrawn. However, there is currently no confirmation on why the golfers have withdrawn from the events till now. There has been an update from Xander Schauffele’s manager about his right rib injury. Torey Pines’s flu might be a concern for the upcoming signature event
The Farmers Insurance Open saw a huge withdrawal rate because of the flu, which could lead to a bigger concern for the upcoming signature event, which is the Genesis Invitational. The second signature event of the year that is scheduled to tee off on February 13th, 2025 featuring limited golfers. As per the recent update, the PGA Tour has shared about the temporary shift of the location from LA because of wildfire.

However, there is no official confirmation about the venue, but Rick Gehman, CBS Sports reporter has shared that Tory Pines could be the ideal location due to some notable factors which he shared on X. He wrote, “I have the understanding that Torrey Pines will be selected to host the Genesis Invitational. The combination of 1) keeping it in California and 2) proximity to the original event — were some of the factors that pushed it over the edge.”
Considering the lookout for an alternative, the current situation if proved true. The signature event could suffer a lot. The PGA Tour might not consider Torey Pines as the alternative for the event.
