At only 24 years old, Jake LaRavia already had two NBA franchises decide he was not worth their time. The Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings both had the impressive young wing in-house and decided to let him walk. Their loss in the Los Angeles Lakers’ massive gain.
LaRavia has been tremendous in purple and gold. The Lakers needed an impact player after they lost Dorian Finney-Smith in free agency. LaRavia was the first name they called and the deliverables from the former Grizzly and Kings have spoken for themselves.
Amid a fluctuating role due to injuries, LaRavia has been able to maximize his playing time in the rotation. One of the newest Lakers is quickly making a name for himself in Los Angeles.

It did not take long for a big breakout performance from LaRavia in a Lakers jersey. His coming out party took place in the team’s second meeting against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 29.
LaRavia started the game and poured in 27 points, shooting 10-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, in the Lakers’ tight 116-115 win over the Timberwolves. It forced a fan in attendance to ask a very important question: who is number 12?
Anthony Edwards joined in on the inquiry, adding his own interest. The answer is simple. Number 12 is a difference-maker. That is something his former franchises failed to recognize.
