Neptune Flood Announces New Capacity Partnership with Somers Syndicate at Lloyd’s

The Buffalo Bills have found their insurance policy at kicker if Matt Prater’s right quad injury prevents him from kicking in the team’s Wild Card matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Tuesday, the Bills announced that they signed Matthew Wright to their practice squad. Wright, 29, has made his way through the league in his career. Between offseason stints and main roster jobs, Wright has played for the likes of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders and Houston Texans. He also had a stint in the then-XFL with the Tampa Bay Vipers in 2019.
Wright battled multiple kickers on Tuesday to land the spot on Buffalo’s practice squad. The transaction wire shows that Buffalo also hosted Matt Gay and Younghoe Koo. It was Koo’s second tryout with the Bills.
Wright is as good an option as you can find this late in the season in terms of a Plan B at kicker. In his career, Wright has made 60-of-68 field goal attempts (88.2%) and 45-of-47 extra point attempts (95.7%). This season, Wright is a perfect 5-of-5 on field goal attempts and 6-of-6 on extra point attempts.
Prater, Buffalo’s current kicker, is listed as day-to-day after reaggravating his right quad in the first half of the Bills’ 35-8 blowout win over the New York Jets in Week 18.
In addition to adding Wright to their practice squad, Buffalo also signed kicker Maddux Trujillo to a reserve/future contract.
