ADVERTISING: ADVERTORIAL – Does a revocable living trust protect your home from title fraud?

As an Idaho estate planning attorney, I regularly hear clients express concern about title fraud — and then ask whether transferring their home into a revocable living trust will protect them. It’s a fair question, and the answer is more nuanced than many people expect.
Let’s break it down.
What Is Title Fraud?
Title fraud (sometimes called deed fraud or home title theft) occurs when someone forges a deed or uses stolen identity information to transfer ownership of your property to themselves or a third party. From there, the fraudster may attempt to take out loans against the property, sell it, or otherwise profit from the stolen title. It’s a growing concern nationwide, and Idaho is not immune.
How a Revocable Living Trust Holds Title
When you place your home into a revocable living trust, legal title transfers from your individual name to the name of the trust. For example, instead of
