Gabon has suspended import duties and value added tax on some basic necessities for a period of six months to address high costs of living, the finance ministry said in a statement
The suspension applies to meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, canned goods, rice, pasta, oils, and sugar, as well as materials such as concrete reinforcing bars, cement, gravel and sand
Charges on some digital payments were also suspended
