Here are the big things pulling the stock market in all different directions

Every weekday, the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer releases the Homestretch — an actionable afternoon update, just in time for the last hour of trading on Wall Street. Markets and more: U.S. stocks were mixed Tuesday. Initially, the September ADP report on hiring at U.S. companies gave a small boost to the market, thanks to better-than-expected job gains with cooling wage growth. We get a bigger read on the labor market Friday when the government releases its September employment report, which includes key snapshots of nonfarm payrolls, the nation’s jobless rate, and wage inflation. Oil was higher but off session highs. We’re watching for a slight temporary inverse linkage between oil and stocks as the market monitors ongoing Mideast tensions after Tuesday’s Iran missile attack on Israel. Semiconductor stocks are a bright spot, with Club name Broadcom as one of the better-performing stocks in the S & P 500. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Club chipmaker Nvidia , is set to appear on CNBC television around 4 p.m. ET to discuss the firm’s newest partnership with Accenture . The two companies are teaming up to expand enterprise AI adoption. Other headlines we’re watching include a Financial Times report that Club holding Amazon is planning to increase the number of advertisements that are shown on Prime Video, providing an incremental boost to its fast-growing, high-margin digital advertising business.
