USDA offering up to $40K for off-farm labor housing

Applications accepted for up to $40K in available funds for improvement, repair or modification of housing used by farm workers.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Realizing a need, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has announced the agency will be hosting an online workshop for potential applicants of the Off-Farm Labor Housing Direct Loans and Grants Program.
The webinar is free and will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. Participants will learn more about the application process, borrower responsibilities and other details for the up to $40,000 in loans and grants during the meeting.
The Off-Farm Labor Housing Direct Loans and Grants Program is for farmers, nonprofits, local governments and federally recognized Tribes to use the funds to improve, repair or modify multifamily housing properties for year-round and migrant or seasonal domestic farms laborers (including those working on fish and oyster farms and on-farm processing).
Loan terms include up to a 33-year payback period, 1 percent payback rate, and availability of the allocated funds on a first-come, first-served basis.
