Following finance titan Charlie Munger’s death on Tuesday at 99, friends and followers of the Berkshire Hathaway vice chairman quickly shared their condolences and warm memories of him in memorial posts online.
“So sad to hear the news of the passing of #CharlieMunger. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and colleagues at #BerkshireHathaway and, of course, his long-time business partner and friend @WarrenBuffett,” Mohamed A. El-Erian, the former CEO of PIMCO, an investment management company, wrote in a post on X.
El-Erian added: “For so many decades, the two of them led an investment powerhouse that significantly improved so many people’s lives … and, in the process, they repeatedly showcased the prowess of collaboration, synergies, and common sense. May you RIP, Charlie.”

Users shared their key takeaways from Munger’s career in finance, praising the practical life advice he offered. One widely spread video clip featured Munger advising ambitious investors to “spend less than you earn, and invest shrewdly, and avoid toxic people and toxic activities.”

Munger’s relationship tips also circulated in the wake of his death, highlighting his 54-year marriage to Nancy Barry, which lasted until she died in 2010.
“Charlie Munger once offered what I consider to be the best life advice one can receive: ‘How to find a good spouse? Still, others praised the former vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway for his lifelong advocacy of education and philanthropy, with multiple users calling Munger a legend and “financial genius.”
“I’m so grateful to #CharlieMunger for the profoundly valuable wisdom he shared so generously with us all in his remarkable life,” author William Green wrote in tribute, including a photo of Munger speaking to a rapt audience. “Traveling to LA to interview him for my book was an experience I’ll truly never forget.
