Mikie Sherrill may fine NJ companies with employees on Medicaid

New Jersey companies whose workers use Medicaid for health insurance would have to provide private coverage or face a fine under the proposed state budget unveiled Tuesday, March 10.
The announcement by Gov. Mickie Sherrill is an attempt to lessen the blow of President Donald Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill that will make cuts to Medicaid — the government health insurance program for low-income Americans — starting next year.
As many as 300,000 New Jerseyans are expected to lose coverage, according to state officials.
