Taylor Morrison Is Paying Mortgages for Homeowners in Need

Key Points
Many families struggle financially during the holidays, worsened by systemic issues and rising costs.
Taylor Morrison and Freed’s Bakery launched a gingerbread kit benefiting families facing foreclosure.
For every kit sold, $1,000 is donated to nonprofit mortgage assistance for those in need.
Is it just me, or is there this weird cognitive dissonance around the holidays where we can acknowledge how difficult the season can be for some people, but fail to do any actual work to change it? It’s like seeing your neighbor’s house engulfed in flames, but doing nothing to put it out because it doesn’t affect you. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people do make an effort to give back and open their hearts to others this time of year, but the sad reality is that systemically, things are still very much set up to make sure they stay the same.
Just looking at the landscape of things today. Due to the rising cost of consumer goods, economic uncertainty, and ever-changing discourse surrounding necessary government programs, many families are left to make difficult decisions about what they can and cannot afford. Speaking personally, it’s a phenomenon that has given me this gnawing feeling of survivor’s guilt that I’ve had a hard time shaking, knowing the position that some people are in.

It can feel debilitating to want to help and not know where to start, but even giving back in small ways can leave a lasting impact. Whether you donate to your local food bank or volunteer at the shelter closest to you, there are so many ways you can show up for those in your community who might be having a tough time. And now, thanks to Taylor Morrison, America’s most trusted home builder, you can even make your annual gingerbread house purchase count toward helping families in need, too.
Taylor Morrison Partners With Freed’s Bakery to Create the Taylor Morrison Build Joy Gingerbread House Kit
The iconic home builder tapped beloved Las Vegas bakeshop Freed’s Bakery to create the Taylor Morrison Build Joy Gingerbread House Kit. The limited-edition DIY kit serves more than just fun memories for you and your family. Each kit will include freshly baked gingerbread panels, icing and festive candies for decorating, as well as provide a pretty hefty donation to a noteworthy cause. For every kit purchased, Taylor Morrison has pledged to donate $1,000 to a third-party nonprofit that provides mortgage assistance to families in need this season. That’s nearly 16 times more than the $54.95 one kit will cost you.
$1,000 for Every Gingerbread House Sold
How’s that for something small going a long way? According to ATTOM’s Foreclosure Activity Report, more than 93,000 homeowners filed for foreclosure nationally in the first quarter of 2025, an 11 percent increase from the previous quarter in 2024. Additional research suggests this spike in filings early in the year is often fueled by financial pressures that build up during the holiday season. With that in mind, Taylor Morrison decided to find a way to get ahead of the surge, and thus the collaboration was born.
The effort continues to expand upon the home builder’s commitment to build joy by showing up for the communities they serve on a daily basis. So, if you were wondering how to give back this season, Taylor Morrison and Freed’s Bakery have you covered. Feel free to grab one for all your friends and family, and tell everyone you know to do the same. What’s the best that could happen?
