The US is studying ways to help fund the massive task of rebuilding Venezuela’s infrastructure, possibly including the use of government agencies like the International Development Finance Corp., according to a White House official.
The discussions are still preliminary and no decisions have been made, the official said, asking not to be identified discussing matters that aren’t public. The challenge of restoring systems like the power grid after decades of neglect has emerged as a critical one for US efforts to revive Venezuela’s economy since it removed President Nicolas Maduro from office early this month.
